Saturday, September 3, 2011 - New Foreign Minister Sits Down To Full Plate

Japan's new top diplomat has a tall order ahead of him, including dealing with the issue of relocating a U.S. military base in Okinawa and China's increasingly assertive maritime expansion.

Koichiro Gemba's biggest challenge as foreign minister will be deepening Japan's security alliance with the U.S., which Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda calls the "basis" of Japanese foreign relations.
