Noise from U.S. Futenma base aircraft tops 100 decibels at Okinawa elementary school - The Mainichi Daily News

Noise levels at an elementary school adjacent to U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Futenma in Ginowan, Okinawa Prefecture, have topped more than 100 decibels during takeoff and landing of U.S. military aircraft, according to a study.

The report by University of the Ryukyus says the noise levels inside classrooms of Futenma No. 2 Elementary School are about the same as noise levels underneath elevated railway tracks when a train passes over them and are highly likely to disrupt class.
