Map Of Japan Made Using 1.8 Million LEGO’s (Photos)

LEGO’s have transcended the toy world a being a major social presence. At the turn of each year, the most political and social scenes are protrayed by LEGO. Highly anticipated movies have very special scenes interpreted by LEGO. You can make almost anything out of a LEGO piece. Check out this LEGO replica of the map of Japan which was crafted with over 1.8 million LEGO bricks. The map was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic building blocks being introduced into Japan, LEGO’s Japanese subsidiary sponsored a cross-country workshop called “Build Up Japan” where over 5000 people in 6 different regions collaborated to create the gigantic map.

Instead of creating an exact replica, participants of the project were encouraged to imagine their ideal Japan and to create imaginary structures.  The final product was then flown to Tokyo to be put on display.
