Japan deploys more patrol ship to Diaoyu Islands CCTV News - CNTV English

Japan plans to send a large patrol ship to monitor the waters near the disputed Diaoyu Senkaku islands.

Japan’s media reports that the patrol ship Chikuzen could be equipped with helicopters. It is also capable for a long term sailing without supply. The patrol ship is now heading to Okinawa Prefecture. The captain of the ship said the deployment is to boost defenses near Diaoyu Senkaku islands.

Japan has continued strengthen its defense around the area since 2010 boats collisions between China and Japan. Japan also plans to deploy four to six more ships in 2014 and 2015. On Wednesday, the US has also completed the deployment of 24 Osprey transport aircraft in Okinawa.
