Japan minister in charge of Okinawa to visit Philippines | GlobalPost

The Japanese minister in charge of Okinawa said Tuesday he will visit the Philippines to take a look at former U.S. military bases in the country in the hope of applying their experiences to the conversion of U.S. military facilities in the southern Japanese prefecture.

During the three-day trip through Thursday, Ichita Yamamoto will visit what were known as the Clark Air Base and nearby Subic Bay Naval Base and also meet Philippine Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario, Yamamoto said in a press conference.
