Rare animal species run over in Okinawa's U.S. helipad area | GlobalPost

Animals on the government's list of endangered species are often run over by vehicles within the U.S. Marine Corps training ground in northern Okinawa's Yanbaru forest area, a Defense Ministry report showed Sunday.

The report was compiled after the ministry's Okinawa Defense Bureau conducted four rounds of on-the-spot inspections of areas surrounding a helipad for MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft and helicopters within the premises of the Northern Training Area during the year to March.
