some 550 miles southwest of Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, but Super Typhoon Usagi is large enough in diameter that Okinawa is feeling the wrath of its outer bands. Weekend forecast calls for rain and 30-mph winds and 40-mph gusts with a chance of rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout. Southwestern Japan’s Miyako and Ishigaki islands and the southern tip of Taiwan should get some seriously nasty winds and rain in the coming days before Usagi makes landfall early next week close to Hong Kong. Get your safe on, folks!
