Taiwan holds live-fire missile test near Yonaguni Island | GlobalPost

The Taiwanese Navy on Thursday conducted a live-fire missile test in waters near Okinawa's island of Yonaguni amid escalating tensions in the East China Sea and the increased presence of Chinese ships and aircraft near Taiwan's east coast.

The test was part of a regular military exercise, which began with a Kidd-class guided missile destroyer firing a Standard Missile 2 (SM-2) 60 nautical miles southeast off Taiwan's eastern Port of Hualien to demonstrate its self-defense and anti-aircraft defense capabilities.
