Fukushima 2020: Will Japan be able to keep the nuclear situation under control? | The Japan Times

Thirty seconds into what may ultimately be regarded as one of the defining speeches of his career, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe slowly raised his hands chest high, then spread them out sideways in a gesture of confidence.

“Let me assure you,” he said, addressing members of the International Olympic Committee on Sept. 7. “The situation is under control.”

The prime minister was attempting to convince his audience in Buenos Aires that the multiple meltdowns at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, initiated by tsunami triggered by the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, should not be a cause of concern for Tokyo hosting the Summer Olympic Games in 2020.

Comment: Referring to the headline here, it's a moot point! The way the dickheads in charge around the globe are ruining everything they lay their greedy little hands on, we'll be in the midst of or suffering through the aftermath of WWIII before these games ever take place.

Kinda like the 1940 Olympic Games all over again isn't it. Tokyo was where those games were supposed to take place but it got cancelled by a little dust up called WWII. So I guess ole Thucydides might have been right all along, history does repeat itself!

As a side note, that opening line in this story reminded me of another story entitled "30 seconds over Tokyo." If my memory serves me correctly, that one didn't end up too good for the Japanese either. So it's a given that the Japanese "people" will be on the recieving end again so, I guess the question this time around will be, who's going to be dropping the bombs???
