Typhoon 26W (Francisco) update - Storm closes in on Okinawa - Pacific Storm Tracker - Stripes

With every passing model run, Typhoon Francisco is forecast to edge closer, ever closer to Okinawa come Thursday morning, with the Kanto Plain next on Francisco's itinerary.

Joint Typhoon Warning Center's latest forecast track takes Francisco 167 miles east of Kadena Air Base at 9 a.m. Thursday. Kadena's 18th Wing Weather Flight extended forecast calls for sustained 40-mph winds and 58-mph gusts Thursday morning; parts of Okinawa could get sustained 52-mph winds and 69-mph gusts. U.S. bases on Okinawa remain in seasonal Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness 4; expect that to change later today or tomorrow.

Comment: Funny, I've been watching this one and noticed the same thing, that being with each and every update, the prognosticators have this storm tracking closer and closer to Okinawa's east coast. I figure at the rate they're going by the time this storm is due to get here, on Thursday, it ought to be a direct hit or maybe even tracking along our west coast.

We'll prepare as we always do but my sincere hope is that this is as it usually is, much ado about nothing....
