Typhoon Danas (Dumb-Ass) UPDATE

U.S. bases on Okinawa remain in Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness Storm Watch, and Sasebo Naval Base remains in TCCOR 4; those could change at any time as Typhoon Danas continues steaming rapidly toward Okinawa, with a forecasted sharp right turn toward Sasebo and into the Sea of Japan.

Here are the latest wind forecast timelines:

Okinawa
-- Sustained 40 mph winds, 10 a.m. Monday.
-- Sustained 58 mph winds, 2 p.m. Monday.
-- Peak 63 mph sustained winds, 81 mph gusts, 5 p.m. Monday.
-- Winds diminishing below 58 mph, 9 p.m. Monday.
-- Winds diminishing below 40 mph, 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Sasebo
-- Winds 15 to 18 mph sustained, 30 mph gusts, Monday evening into early morning Tuesday.
-- Winds 35 to 40 mph sustained, 52 mph gusts, late-morning Tuesday.
-- Winds 46 to 52 mph sustained, 69 mph gusts, mid-afternoon Tuesday.
-- Peak 58 to 64 mph sustained winds, 92 mph gusts, early Tuesday evening.
-- Winds diminishing to 46 to 52 mph sustained, 69 mph gusts mid-evening Tuesday.
-- Winds diminishing to 35 to 40 mph sustained, 52 mph gusts midnight Tuesday.
