Hagel: U.S. 'deeply concerned' with China air defense map -

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel said Saturday the United States is “deeply concerned” over China’s move to establish an air defense zone over a string of disputed islands in the East China Sea.

“We view this development as a destabilizing attempt to alter the status quo in the region,” Hagel said in a statement. “This unilateral action increases the risk of misunderstanding and miscalculations.”

The Associated Press reports that the Chinese Defense Ministry issued a map showing the new East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone, which encompasses what the Chinese call the Diaoyu islands. The move is seen as an aggressive step against Japan, which bought what it calls the Senkaku islands from private owners in 2012. The islands are uninhabited, but are believed to rest near large underwater oil reserves. Taiwan also claims possession of the islands.

Comment: This is filled with lies by omission. Probably because the Chinese own everything including the newspaper where this story originated. Case in point, note the italicized and underlined line above! What isn't there is that the owners whom the government purchased them from were Japanese and that they paid property tax on those islands to Ishigaki City in Okinawa Prefecture, one of Japan's 47 prefectures.

That's because the islands in question have been legally a part of Okinawa prefecture for over a hundred years! But, you wouldn't know that from reading this sorry piece of excrement excuse for journalism. Instead you'd be led to think that maybe, just maybe the Chinese have a legitimate claim to these otherwise worthless rocky outcroppings in the middle of the East China Sea which are known to be sitting above a Saudi Arabian sized field of oil, natural gas and precious rare earth minerals.

Journalistic Malpractice? You betcha! And that my dear children is why our glorious leaders will very likely start WWIII where WWII ended. That's if the Iranians, Saudi's and Israelis don't beat them to it. The race to Armageddon is on and in this race in this nuclear age, it's far more than likely there will be no winners. This is a race in which we all lose!
